Mr Javed Sultan

Consultant Oesophago-Gastric, bariatric and laparoscopic surgeon

Mr Sultan has been extensively trained in all aspects of general and upper gastrointestinal surgery specifically hernia, cholecystectomy, anti-reflux surgery, gastrectomy, oesophagectomy, weight loss surgery (gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric band, intra-gastric balloon), diagnostic endoscopy and therapeutic endoscopy.

Mr Sultan works at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, as a Consultant Oesophago-Gastric and Laparoscopic Surgeon, which offers a specialist oesophago-gastric cancer service and receives complex tertiary referrals from other hospitals around the UK. Mr Sultan is performing weight loss surgery at St George’s Hospital at present.

Mr Sultan’s aim is to deliver high quality care and a personalised service. He is a reliable, approachable, dedicated, conscientious, trust-worthy and a multi-faceted surgeon whose aim is to deliver high quality care. Patient centred care is his priority.

Dr Sam Soltanifar MA, MBBS, FRCA.

Consultant anaesthetist

Dr Sam Soltanifar qualified from the University of Oxford and University College London and then started his anaesthetic career in South West London.
Further specialist anaesthetic training was undertaken in the Oxford region.

This involved higher training in anaesthesia for bariatric and upper gastrointestinal surgery. After working for a time as a Consultant Anaesthetist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Sam took up his current post at the Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2012. He has extensive experience in anaesthetising patients for bariatric surgery and is the lead bariatric anaesthetist at his NHS Trust.

Deborah Norman BSc. (Hons) PG Dip. RD MBDA

Consultant Dietitian

Deborah Norman is a Registered Dietitian specialising in providing dietary advice and support for bariatric patients. She graduated from the University of Surrey and completed her professional training at St George's Hospital, London in 1992. Following 20 years with the NHS Deborah now works on a freelance basis for a number of hospitals in the South East.

She works as part of the Specialist Bariatric Service at Ashtead Hospital and provides dietary support to patients at the BMI Runnymede Hospital, St Peters Hospital, Chertsey and the Nuffield Hospital Guilford. She now has the pleasure of joining the new bariatric serice at BMI Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guildford. Deborah is highly experienced at providing individualised, practical, easy to follow information and support for her patients and believes that this is the key to a successful outcome.
